Restalyne | Restylane | Facial Filler Use

Restalyne more correctly known as Restylane is made of hyaluronic acid.  In the body hyaluronic acid occurs naturally and exists to provide volume and some fullness to the skin, and this results in the skin feeling rather turgid. This volume, fullness and turgidity of the skin is lost as one ages. Age, together with the effects of gravity, prolonged contraction of muscles (that initially cause dynamic or temporary wrinkles of the skin), muscle laxity, the effects of smoking, starvation, poor nutrition, late nights, drinking and the like lead to the production of static wrinkles, creases, and deep folds and grooves in the skin. Similarly certain prolonged inflammatory processes in the skin tends to cause depressed scars in the skin such as is seen in chickenpox scars and acne scars.  These scars are tiny sunken pits tethered by fibrous tissue from the floor of the scar to the underlying connective tissue.

Thus restalyne fulfils one particular need in general - that of restoration of volume of the skin.

The common (and uncommon) uses for Restalyne injections and other facial fillers are listed below:
